On Wednesday 28th July the charity Discovering Latin America Visual Arts will be hosting a gala event at Contemporary Applied Arts . The evening will feature a reception and panel discussion on the topic, 'As The Latin American continent gears up to marking 200 years of Independence from Spain and Portugal, how has a sense of their national identities evolved into the present day?'
The panel will comprise of Professor Valerie Fraser (Director of the Latin American Centre and Co-Director of the university of Essex collection of Latin American Art, UECLAA), Oscar Guardiola-Rivera (Author of the highly anticipated 'What if Latin America Ruled the World') and myself.
I have also made three Ceramic Vessels exclusively for this event (for the first time in 4 years with no immediate intention to make any more) because I wanted to try and raise money and awareness for a charity that does so much for the visibility of Latin American Culture in this country and gives money to much needed projects over every corner of the continent.
The three vessels will be on view for the entire length of the exhibition and anybody interested in purchasing any or all of these works can place a sealed bid of £1500.00 (minimum for each work) or more. At the end of the exhibition all the bids will be reviewed with those people that have offered the most receiving the piece they bid for.
All the money will go to DLA Visual Arts. For more information about this forthcoming event at Discovering Latin America Visual Arts please click on the following link
